Who can run for an office position?
Any resident who lives, rents or owns business within our Picfair Village boundaries. See Bylaws for more details.
What are the responsibilities for each office?
All responsibilities are laid out in the Bylaws. While the bylaws reflect a robust outline of responsibilities, those duties are reflective of a full board and active neighborhood association. Because PVNA is restarting, some of those duties may not feasible.
It states in the Bylaws that any interested candidate must have attended “at least one General Membership, Annual or Special Meeting, not including the Annual Meeting for which the candidate may be voted into office, within the preceding 12 months”.
Since there have been no official meetings, how can I fulfill this part of the requirements?
Exceptions are going to be made for THIS election cycle only. That requirement shall be waived for this election.
Are there any other articles in the Bylaws that will be waived for this election cycle?
Yes.
Please note that the following Bylaws will be waived for this election cycle:
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS Section 2 A – Due to a non-active board, candidates seeking a board position will not be required to have attended any meetings within the preceding 12 months.
ARTICLE VI – OTHER COMMITTEES Section 2 – No nomination committee will be activated/established for this election.
ARTICLE IX – VOTING Section B – Due to a non-active board, all voting for this cycle will be drop-off vote (versus the customary vote on site at meeting).
How long is the commitment for the officers?
One year. June 1 – June 1 Unless, the elected board chooses to adjust the month. (ie, move it to Jan 1- Jan. 1))
What can I do to tell the community that I’m interested in running for office?
PVNA will host a “Meet the Candidates” on Thursday, May 30th. Location will be determined later. You are encouraged to promote yourself within our neighborhood.
Will I have to submit any form to declare my candidacy?
All Candidates will be required to declare candidacy by May 15, 2024
